Season Greetings.
I pray this message finds you well. As we enter this time of year, we know that cold and flu season can bring challenges for families and schools. With that in mind, it's a good time to remind everyone to be extra vigilant about health and wellness. To help keep our community safe, we encourage all families to monitor their children for any signs of illness and to screen for common symptoms such as fever, cough, or fatigue. If your child is feeling unwell, it’s always best to keep them home and allow them the time they need to rest and recover. Please use this information as a guide for screening your child before sending him/her to school *If your child has any of the following symptoms, that indicates a possible illness that may decrease the students ability to learn and also put them at risk for spreading illness to others. Please check your child for these symptoms 1.Is your child's temperature 99 degrees or greater? (*A student’s temperature must be below 99.0 degrees Fahrenheit in order to attend in person learning) (Students must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medicine upon reentry to in person learning) 2. Is your child showing any of these symptoms? ● New onset of Cough ● Shortness of breath ● Difficulty breathing ● Chest tightness/pain ● Runny or stuffy nose ● Sore throat ● New onset of fatigue ● Weakness ● New onset of headaches ● Body aches/pain ● Diarrhea ● Nausea/Vomiting ● Chills ● Loss of taste or smell (*If yes to any of these symptoms, please keep them home and notify the School immediately) Remember, it is the parent's responsibility to screen your student for possible symptoms each morning before sending them to school. Please report any changes to your child's health to the School Nurse. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a healthy and safe environment for everyone. Dear Warrior Family and Friends of RCCS, As we approach the end of another remarkable year, we want to take a moment to reflect on our achievements and express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support. Your commitment has been instrumental in helping us fulfill our mission and make a meaningful impact in our community. This year, thanks to your generosity, we have made significant strides in enhancing our facilities and educational offerings. We successfully upgraded our telephone and internet systems, ensuring better communication and connectivity for our students and staff. Additionally, we are in the process of replacing the roofs on our main building and three houses on the property, which will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for everyone. We are also excited to announce raising $1,000 to reseed our football/soccer field, creating a better playing surface for our athletes. Furthermore, we are expanding our academic programs by adding AP math and college prep courses to our middle school curriculum, preparing our students for future success. As we look ahead to the coming year, we are eager to continue building on these initiatives. With your continued support, we can create even more positive change and inspire future generations. We invite you to consider making a year-end gift to support our ongoing efforts. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant difference and helps us to achieve our goals. Thank you once again for being an essential part of our community. We wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year. Warm regards, Ezzard G. Castillo CEO/Administrator River City Christian School [email protected] (210) 384-0297 “Give generously and generous gifts will be given back to you, shaken down to make room for more. Abundant gifts will pour out upon you with such an overflowing measure that it will run over the top! The measurement of your generosity becomes the measurement of your return.” Luke 6:38 Good Afternoon Parents and Care Givers,
The year is off to a great start, and we are focused on learning and taking our students higher. Your student may let you know that we conducted a backpack search today. There was no threat of any kind, but due to some cell phone issues I felt it necessary to search backpacks. In the Handbook on page 45 it states : "RCCS reserves the right to search any items brought on campus, including backpacks, gym bags, purses, makeup bags, cars, student clothing, cell phones, and any and all electronic devices, without notice, student consent, and without a search warrant." On p. 46 of the Student Handbook it states "Students can have cell phones on campus during the school day. They must turn them into the teacher during class time. Outside of class, students must have their cell phones turned off and in their backpacks. " They are not allowed to carry cell phones in their pockets during instruction time. Please be aware your students will have their phones turned off and inside their backpacks until after school. If you need to reach your student please call the front office at 210-384-0297. Ten students today were given warnings on proper procedures on their cell phones. Teachers at their discretion allow students to use the calculators on their phones, but it would be with teacher guidance. Our goal is to limit distractions in the classroom and keep our students engaged and learning. Several of our young ladies are carrying a makeup wardrobe which is not allowed. Please go through your daughters backpack and take out any makeup products. We will allow them to have deodorant, feminine products, and chapstick. (we do have a small supply of feminine products and body sprays in our MS/HS bathroom for the girls). We do not need all the makeup, hair spray, foundation, brushes, eye shadow pallets, etc. These young ladies are beautiful and don't need most of these items, but to prevent things being lost or broken we ask they not bring them to school. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. (On special occasions such as Homecoming, Turkey Bowl, etc. we may allow them to carry their makeup bags). We are looking forward to seeing you at the upcoming parent teacher conferences on October 24 and 25th. Please remember those will be half days of classroom time for the students. Spaces will be limited on Thursday October 24, but we will accommodate everyone between Thursday and Friday. There will be a Homecoming Dance in the near future. We are in the process of firming up the date with our DJ. Have a BLESSED week. Thank You for allowing us to be a part of your child's learning journey. Dear Parents, “ Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.” Philippians 4:8 (NASV) One of the aims of a Christian education is to teach our students to value and appreciate those things that are spiritually, intellectually and emotionally uplifting, those things that can be deemed not merely acceptable but excellent and worthy of praise. It is also our goal to assist our students to know and enjoy the attributes of God. To encourage our students to dwell on those things that are excellent, those things worthy of praise, we respectfully ask that parents not permit their children to bring anything to school dealing with ghosts, witches, goblins, devils etc. This includes notebooks, paper plates, cups, napkins, costumes, lunch boxes etc. Moreover, we have made it our policy that we do not celebrate Halloween at RCCS. We are in no way judging those who may choose to celebrate Halloween. This policy is in place because ghosts, witches, goblins, devils, etc., costumes or decorations may tend to diminish the reality of the existence and seriousness of evil and the occult in the minds of our students. Our goal is that they dwell on that which is true, honorable, and excellent and of good repute. We are committed to leading students, in partnership with families, in developing a relationship with Christ our Savior where they strive to know Christ and to make Christ known. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Should you have any questions regarding this policy, feel free to call me. In Christ, Ezzard G. Castillo Dear Parents,
We Heard You! Many families have expressed the desire to have the entire 2 weeks off at Christmas break. We have a certain amount of days that are required by state law. We are updating the calendar to allow the Christmas break to run from Dec 23- Jan 3. The students will return on Monday Jan. 6. Please update your school calendar accordingly. To make up the 2 additional days we will have the students attend class for half days on Oct 25 and Mar 28. Those 2 days are Parent-Teacher conferences but unlike the past, your child will need to attend class half day on those 2 days. We will arrange for after school care for those who are working and cannot pick up their child those days. However, to accommodate Parent-Teacher conferences we will start those on Thursday afternoons and complete them on Friday afternoons. A sign-up schedule will be available as in the past. If you have any questions please reach out to the front office at 210-384-0297 Mrs. Castillo Principal Soccer Coach and parent Mr. Kevin Romine is spearheading a fundraiser to improve the soccer field for our student athletes. Please consider giving to help reach the goal.
https://www.facebook.com/donate/413878795051228/10160718328664482/ Greetings Warrior Family,
As you may have noticed there is a lot of activity taking place in Warrior Country. We are presently placing a new roof on the main school building and the other houses on the property. The goal is to give the entire campus a fresh look and maximize its use. In the classrooms our students are being challenged and they are stepping up. If you have not done so yet, friend us on facebook https://www.facebook.com/Rivercitychristianschool/ and instagram https://www.instagram.com/rccswarriors/?igshid=NjY2NjE5MzQ%3D to see the amazing knowledge and skills they are demonstrating. Our Next Step students are learning about budgeting and preparing for their future after high school graduation. Oh yes the students will be organizing RCCS first ever Fall Festival Explosion. Mark your calendar for an exciting day Saturday, October 25th. The culinary students made up of high school and eighth graders are doing a fantastic job. One of our seniors is on his way to receive his kitchen managers license as his goal is to become a chef. In the athletic arena the soccer and cross country team are training hard. Be on the lookout for game and meet schedules. Go cheerleaders, they are sounding great. Along with all the fantastic things taking place we are also having some challenges. As many of you are aware our main cooling system crashed the day before school started. We immediately invested in a temporary solution and are currently seeking the best solution to replace our chiller system. At the same time our brand new internet and phone system stopped working. Thanks to the School at Castle Hills administration they recommended an IT company and both systems are up and running perfectly. Two weeks ago we were notified by Ms. Cion Dussinger/Strickland she was resigning and submitted her two week notice. Beginning Monday we have revised administration and staff schedules and all classes are covered by highly qualified teachers. We believe this will be temporary as we have potential replacements scheduled for interviews. If you visit the school next week you will also notice a new face working with Mrs Booker. Candy McKee is the newest member of RCCS. Mrs McKee will be training with Mrs Booker and transition to our new Administrative Assistant. Please stop by and introduce yourself to her. I close by encouraging you to join the students this coming Wednesday, September 25th at 8:15am at the school flag pole as the pray for schools, leaders, defenders, each other and our nation. I believe those 30 minutes will provide you a great start to your day. Blessings Mr. Castillo Greetings Warrior Family,

Blessings Mr. Castillo As we approach October and the first parent-teacher conferences of the school year, we often hear parents ask us, "What does differentiation mean?"
At River City Christian School, we pride ourselves on providing individualized instruction for each student. Differentiation is a teaching method that adjusts the instruction textbook manufacturers intended to meet the needs of individual students. It includes providing multiple ways for students to learn a topic and express their understanding. Our educators accomplish this through tailored instruction and adjusting the content utilized to teach a topic, allowing them to provide different ways for students to take in information. Our flexible approach to instruction allows for modification of coursework and, where needed, accommodations to help each student succeed. |
