How Does RCCS Use Prayer To Help With Learning Challenges?

3/20/2025

Comments

At RCCS, we believe that every student is uniquely created by God and has a divine purpose. For students with learning differences, school can sometimes feel overwhelming, but faith provides a source of strength and encouragement. One of the most powerful tools available to us as Christians is prayer. But can prayer truly help with learning challenges? The answer is a resounding yes!

Prayer Brings Peace and Confidence
When facing academic struggles, it’s easy to feel anxious, frustrated, or even discouraged. Prayer allows us to bring these emotions before God and find peace in His presence. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Through prayer, students can release their worries and gain confidence, knowing that they are not alone in their challenges.

Prayer Invites God’s Guidance and Wisdom
Learning challenges can make it difficult to grasp new concepts, stay organized, or complete assignments efficiently. James 1:5 tells us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." When we pray for wisdom, we invite God to illuminate our minds, help us understand new material, and guide us in our studies. He may provide clarity through teachers, mentors, or even moments of inspiration.

Prayer Strengthens Perseverance
Challenges in learning require persistence, and prayer can help develop a spirit of perseverance. Isaiah 40:31 encourages us with these words: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Through prayer, students can find the determination to keep going, even when schoolwork seems tough. God equips us with the endurance needed to overcome obstacles and grow in resilience.

Prayer Connects Us to a Supportive Community
At RCCS, we emphasize the power of a faith-filled community. Prayer does not have to be a solitary act—students, teachers, and families can pray together for strength and encouragement. When students share their struggles in prayer with others, they receive support, wisdom, and encouragement from those who care about them. Matthew 18:20 assures us, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." Knowing that others are praying alongside us can be incredibly uplifting.

Faith and Effort Work Together
Prayer is a powerful spiritual tool, but it also works best when combined with effort. Students are encouraged to pray while also using effective study strategies, seeking help when needed, and making the most of their resources. God calls us to be diligent and faithful in our efforts, as seen in Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."

Learn Different, Be Different!
Learning challenges can be difficult, but with prayer, students can find peace, wisdom, perseverance, and community support. At RCCS, we encourage our students to lean on their faith and trust that God will provide the strength they need. By combining prayer with hard work, students can overcome challenges and grow academically and spiritually. God has a plan for every student, and through prayer, they can confidently walk in His purpose.

AFC Celebrates Announcement that 76 Texas House Members Publicly Support HB 3, Signaling Strong Momentum for School Choice

2/26/2025

Comments

Dallas, TX – The Texas House announced Wednesday that 75 members have joined Chairman Brad Buckley in coauthoring HB 3, Buckley’s school choice proposal. With 76 votes needed for passage on the floor and a majority of the Texas House in favor, this announcement represents an important step forward in securing educational freedom for families.

This overwhelming show of support highlights growing momentum for school choice. Empowering parents with the ability to choose the best educational path for their children is the right move for Texas, and legislators must move quickly to get it done. We thank Chairman Buckley and Speaker Burrows for their extraordinary leadership.

HB 3 makes every Texas student eligible for an education savings account. With a $1 billion funding appropriation, the legislation would create the largest day-one school choice program in our nation’s history. The legislation will help ensure every child, regardless of ZIP code or economic status, can access a high-quality education.

Statement from Nathan Cunneen, Texas State Director, American Federation for Children:

“This is a defining moment for Texas families. With the majority of the Texas House standing behind HB 3, we are on the brink of delivering life-changing education freedom to students across the state. Parents deserve to decide what is best for their children, and Texas is ready to lead the way. Now is the time to act.

"We are encouraged by this news and look forward to working with members of the House throughout the committee and floor processes. We look forward to the legislature swiftly sending school choice to Governor Abbott’s desk."
About AFC:
The American Federation for Children is the nation’s largest school choice advocacy organization and the most successful force for education freedom in America, passing over 200 laws across 31 states throughout our history. Our affiliated Super PAC, AFC Victory Fund, is the only nationwide Super PAC focused on advancing school choice.

Lighthouse Voices Presents ~ The Happiness Crisis: What Parents Can Do Now.

2/22/2025

Are you concerned about the growing crisis of depression and unhappiness among young people?
As a parent, you see the challenges this generation faces — anxiety, isolation, and a sense of hopelessness. According to the latest World Happiness Report, America ranks as the 10th happiest nation, yet our young people have plummeted to 62nd in happiness — a decline steeper than that of youth in Ukraine, Palestine, and Iraq.
But there is hope. What can we learn from nations like Israel — one of the happiest places on Earth despite constant adversity? More importantly, as parents and believers, how can we step into the "happiness gap" to help our children find true fulfillment.
Join us for this important Lighthouse Voices event with Dr. Jeff Myers, president of Summit Ministries, as we explore how truth, faith, and intentional parenting can make a lasting difference in the next generation.

Event Details:
  • Date: March 18, 2025
  • Time: Doors open at 6:30 PM MT, event starts at 7:00 PM MT

How Does RCCS accommodate students with Individualized Plans?

2/21/2025

Comments

Education is meant to be a pathway to opportunity, but traditional learning environments may not meet the diverse needs of every student. For those with learning differences—such as dyslexia, ADHD, and autism—accommodations play a crucial role in ensuring equal access to education.
Understanding Learning Differences
Learning differences affect how students process information. Rather than lowering academic expectations, accommodation provides tools and strategies to help these students demonstrate their knowledge in a way that aligns with their abilities.
The Purpose of Accommodations
Accommodation removes barriers to learning while maintaining academic standards. They do not offer an unfair advantage but rather ensure that students can participate fully in the educational experience.
Types of Accommodations
Classroom and Instructional Accommodations
  • Extended Time on Assignments and Tests: Helps students who need additional processing time.
  • Alternative Instructional Methods: Visual aids, audiobooks, and hands-on activities support different learning styles.
  • Preferential Seating: Reduces distractions for students with attention difficulties.
  • Note-Taking Assistance: Outlines or recorded lectures support students with writing challenges.
Testing Accommodations
  • Quiet Testing Environment: Minimizes distractions for students with ADHD or anxiety.
  • Oral or Typed Responses: Supports students with dyslexia or motor skill difficulties.
  • Multiple Testing Sessions: Allows students to focus on smaller sections at a time.
Technology-Based Accommodations
  • Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Text Tools: Assist students with reading and writing challenges.
  • Assistive Software and Apps: Tools like Grammarly help with organization and grammar.
  • Calculator or Spell-Checker Use: Allows students to focus on problem-solving rather than mechanics.
Organizational Supports
  • Visual Schedules and Planners: Aid students in managing tasks.
  • Breaks and Movement Opportunities: Helps students with attention difficulties stay engaged.
  • Checklists and Step-by-Step Instructions: Makes assignments more manageable.
Emotional and Psychological Benefits
Accommodation helps boost students' confidence and reduce frustration. Without them, students may experience anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. By ensuring their needs are met, accommodation fosters a sense of inclusion and empowerment.
Collaboration is Key
Teachers, parents, and students must work together to implement accommodation effectively. RCCS creates individualized plans based on each student’s needs, laying a framework for ensuring consistent support throughout a student’s academic journey.
Conclusion
Accommodation ensures fairness, not advantage. By addressing individual learning needs, RCCS helps students reach their full potential, improving both academic success and emotional well-being. A commitment to inclusive education ensures that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Reminder: Student Screening

12/2/2024

Comments

Season Greetings.
I pray this message finds you well. As we enter this time of year, we know that cold and flu season can bring challenges for families and schools. With that in mind, it's a good time to remind everyone to be extra vigilant about health and wellness. To help keep our community safe, we encourage all families to monitor their children for any signs of illness and to screen for common symptoms such as fever, cough, or fatigue. If your child is feeling unwell, it’s always best to keep them home and allow them the time they need to rest and recover.
Please use this information as a guide for screening your child before sending him/her to school
*If your child has any of the following symptoms, that indicates a possible illness that may decrease the students ability to learn and also put them at risk for spreading illness to others. Please check your child for these symptoms
1.Is your child's temperature 99 degrees or greater?
(*A student’s temperature must be below 99.0 degrees Fahrenheit in order to attend in person learning) (Students must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medicine upon reentry to in person learning)
2. Is your child showing any of these symptoms?
● New onset of Cough
● Shortness of breath
● Difficulty breathing
● Chest tightness/pain
● Runny or stuffy nose
● Sore throat
● New onset of fatigue
● Weakness
● New onset of headaches
● Body aches/pain
● Diarrhea
● Nausea/Vomiting
● Chills
● Loss of taste or smell
(*If yes to any of these symptoms, please keep them home and notify the School immediately)
Remember, it is the parent's responsibility to screen your student for possible symptoms each morning before sending them to school.
Please report any changes to your child's health to the School Nurse.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a healthy and safe environment for everyone.

Year End Giving

11/5/2024

Comments

November 5, 2024
Dear Warrior Family and Friends of RCCS,
As we approach the end of another remarkable year, we want to take a moment to reflect on our
achievements and express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support. Your
commitment has been instrumental in helping us fulfill our mission and make a meaningful
impact in our community.
This year, thanks to your generosity, we have made significant strides in enhancing our facilities
and educational offerings. We successfully upgraded our telephone and internet systems,
ensuring better communication and connectivity for our students and staff. Additionally, we are
in the process of replacing the roofs on our main building and three houses on the property,
which will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for everyone.
We are also excited to announce raising $1,000 to reseed our football/soccer field, creating a
better playing surface for our athletes. Furthermore, we are expanding our academic programs
by adding AP math and college prep courses to our middle school curriculum, preparing our
students for future success.
As we look ahead to the coming year, we are eager to continue building on these initiatives. With
your continued support, we can create even more positive change and inspire future
generations.
We invite you to consider making a year-end gift to support our ongoing efforts. Every
contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant difference and helps us to achieve our
goals.
Thank you once again for being an essential part of our community. We wish you and your loved
ones a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
Warm regards,
Ezzard G. Castillo
