Warriors for Christ: Strength in Body, Mind & Spirit
History and MissionRiver City Christian School's athletic department began in 2002 with a two-fold mission:
1. To utilize athletics as an evangelistic and discipleship tool directed to athletes, parents and competitors. 2. To build self-esteem, implement leadership skills and develop Christ-like character through the participation of competitive sports. Why Athletics Matter:✅ Good Character – Competing with integrity and honoring Christ in all we do (Colossians 3:23)
✅ Discipline – Training our bodies and minds for excellence (1 Corinthians 9:25) ✅ Teamwork – Learning to serve and uplift others (Philippians 2:3-4) ✅ Christ-Like Attitudes & Behaviors – Reflecting God’s love through sportsmanship (Ephesians 4:2) ✅ Moral Development & Training – Making choices that glorify God on and off the field (Proverbs 11:3) ✅ Social Skills Development – Building relationships grounded in respect and encouragement (1 Thessalonians 5:11) ✅ Emotional Maturity Development – Learning to handle victories and challenges with grace (James 1:2-4) |
